Here's why I'm so passionate about helping others succeed with their health goals:

I am concerned to the max with how young our daughters and teenage girls are concerned with weight and go on to develop a negative body image.

I am filled with compassion for young girls of today who are bombarded with messages that their self-worth is tied to how they look, their body physique.

I'm interested in creating a shift within my circle of influence for creating a healthy relationship with food, mind, and body.

I haven't always walked the razor's edge balance of being a good role-model in my roles as mother and yoga instructor, as I've voiced my worries and insecurities over the years about my own body image.

I'm curious about why I was so worried about it, honestly. And as I've sought answers, I've found that I'm not alone. We've all been there: angry with ourselves for overeating, for our lack of willpower, for failing at yet another diet that was supposed to be the last one.

Dieting causes us to stop listening to our bodies, which is THE KEY to both confidence and well-being. Nurturing our bodies versus starving them, encourages true peace with food and being the experts of our own bodies.

Why Is Intuitive Eating so Powerful?

Intuitive Eating versus Diet Mentality has the following distinctions.

We all have Eating Voices in our heads. They have distinct tones. Here's a summary of how they emerge and evolve:

1.) Food Police: (Diet Culture) - Causes guilt and food worry. Full of judgment. Keeps you in the dieting world, and out of touch with inner cues of eating.  How it Helps: It doesn't.

2.) Nutrition Informant: How it Hurts: Uses nutrition as a vehicle to keep you dieting.  How it Helps: Once uncoupled from the Food Police, it becomes the Nutrition Ally and can help you make healthy food choices without guilt.

3.) Diet Rebel: How it Hurts: Usually results in overeating, self-sabotage. How it Helps: When the Diet Rebel becomes the Rebel Ally, it can help you guard your food turf/boundaries.

4.) Food Anthropologist: Helps give you a neutral perspective into your eating world. Keeps you in touch with your inner signals - biologically and psychologically.  For some individuals, interaction with this voice is often the first nonjudgmental, non-negative encounter with food. How it Hurts: It doesn't.

5.) Nurturer: Helps to disarm the verbal assault from the Food Police. Gets you through the tough times. How it Hurts: It doesn't.

Each of the voices may prevail at different times. Some of the voices were there at birth but may have become buried.

Others were hi-jacked by family and society. And some need to be learned and developed to become an Intuitive Eater.

In my Intuitive Eating coaching package, we identify the inner voices and root out Thought Errors that lead to negative self-talk. We develop a special arsenal for challenging the Food Police.

This is the best decision you'll ever make towards your overall health. Up until this point, what have your dieting experiences shown you? Many of my clients say their first diet was easy - the pounds just melted off. But that first dieting experience is the seduction trap, which launches the futile pursuit of weight loss via dieting. I say futile - because our bodies are very smart and wired for survival.

Biologically, your body experiences the dieting process as a form of starvation. Your cells don't know you are volutarily restricting your food intake. Your body shifts into primal survival mode - metabolism slows down and food cravings escalate. And with each diet, the body learns and adapts, resulting in rebound weight gain. Consequently, we feel like we are failures - but it is dieting that has failed us.
